چکیده

We discuss solvability issues of H−/H2/∞ optimal fault detection problems in the most general setting. A solution approach is presented which successively reduces the initial problem to simpler ones. The last computational step generally may involve the solution of a non-standardH−/H2/∞ optimization problem for which we discuss possible solution approaches. Using an appropriate definition of the H−-index, we provide a complete solution of this problem in the case of H2-norm. Furthermore, we discuss the solvability issues in the case of H∞-norm.

Approximation of solution operators of elliptic partial differential equations by ℋ- and ℋ2-matrices

We investigate the problem of computing the inverses of stiffness matrices resulting from the finite element discretization of elliptic partial differential equations. Since the solution operators are non-local, the inverse matrices will in general be dense, therefore they cannot be represented by standard techniques. In this paper, we prove that these matrices can be approximated by Hand H2-ma...

Formulating and Solving Robust Fault Diagnosis Problems Based on a H Setting

This paper studies the robust fault detection problem using the standard H∞ filtering formulation. With this formulation, the minimization of the disturbance effect on the residual is formulated as a standard H∞ filtering problem and the design is solved using standard H∞ techniques. To facilitate the enhancement of the residual sensitivity to the fault, the difference between the residual and ...

Extended Robust ℋ2 and ℋ∞ Filter Design for Discrete Time-Invariant Linear Systems with Polytopic Uncertainty

Abstract This paper is concerned with the problem of robust H2 and H∞ filter design for discrete-time linear time-invariant systems with polytopic parameter uncertainties. Less conservative robust H2 and H∞ filter design procedures are proposed in terms of single-parameter minimization problems with linear matrix inequality constraints. To this end, we generalize the filter structures available...

New computational paradigms in solving fault detection and isolation problems

A representative set of fault detection and isolation problems are formulated for linear time-invariant systems with additive faults. For all problems general existence conditions of their solutions are given. An overview of recently developed computational methods for the synthesis of fault detection filters is presented for all formulated problems. Two remarkable computational paradigms emerg...

Fault isolation for diagnosis: Nuisance rejection and multiple hypotheses testing

Fault detection, fault isolation and fault diagnosis are addressed within a statistical framework. The corresponding inference problems are stated. Several statistical tools for solving these inference problems are described. Particular emphasis is put on dealing with nuisance parameters and deciding between multiple hypotheses. How to use these tools for solving FDI problems is discussed. An e...
